In a series of development interventions throughout Area C, the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) made a field visit to the village of Al-Mughayyir to supervise the technical handover of the children’s park construction project. In partnership with the technical team of the Al-Mughayyir Village Council, this activity falls under the Sub-grant Initiative, implemented by APLA with funding from the European Union and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
The project aims to establish a public park in an area that completely lacks public facilities and green spaces and is under the threat of land confiscation. The park serves as a “development hub” to strengthen the resilience of citizens living in Area C. It provides an attractive community environment that encourages stability and continued presence in the area. It also contributes to addressing the specific needs of children and women by offering a space for recreational and educational activities, which in turn helps alleviate the psychological and social impacts imposed by the current situation in the area.
This project reflects APLA’s commitment to a comprehensive development vision focused on empowering local communities and enhancing equitable access to public facilities, especially in areas affected by increasing restrictions on growth and expansion. It supports social cohesion and the development of children’s skills through educational and recreational games and activities, improving the quality of life for citizens in the face of ongoing challenges on the ground. This intervention stands as a practical example of the effectiveness of decentralized, locally oriented projects, which are designed and implemented based on the priorities of targeted communities.
