APLA Executive Director Holds a Series of Meetings with Several LGU Mayors

Mr. Abdallah Anati, Executive Director of the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA), held a series of meetings with several Mayors of local government units (LGUs) as part of efforts to strengthen communication and coordination, clarify the roles and responsibilities of the parties, and explore avenues for joint cooperation to advance the local governance sector.
The meetings included Mr. Sameeh Thawabteh, Mayor of Beit Fajjar; Mr. Saad Shalalda, Mayor of Saeer; Mr. Ahmad Shahada, Mayor of Ajja; and Mr. Firas Barbar, Mayor of Birzeit, along with their accompanying delegations.
During the meetings, participants reviewed the main issues and challenges facing LGUs and discussed mechanisms to enhance cooperation and coordination between APLA and the LGUs, with a view to supporting LGUs’ efforts and enabling them to fulfill their duties and provide better services to citizens. The meetings also addressed municipal needs and priorities and explored ways to develop joint cooperation that would positively impact institutional performance and raise the standard of the local governance sector.
These meetings are part of APLA’s approach of strengthening direct communication with LGUs and expanding the scope of cooperation with them, contributing to local development and improving the quality of services provided to citizens.
