APLA finalizes procedures to hand over the solar power station project for the Jalbun Village Council well

In coordination with the technical team of the Jalbun Village Council, the Association of Palestinian of Local Authorities (APLA) completed the technical handover procedures for the solar power station project to operate the village’s water well. This was part of APLA’s follow-up visits to Sub-grant Initiative projects implemented in Area C with support from the European Union and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).

The project aims to enhance access to water in Jalbun by generating the energy needed to operate the well pump using a solar energy system. This contributes to lowering production costs and reducing dependence on conventional electricity. This intervention is part of efforts to provide sustainable infrastructure that improves economic and social conditions in targeted communities. The project was implemented in response to an urgent need among residents, who faced high water costs in the absence of a central water network. It is also expected that the project support agricultural activities and bolster community resilience, particularly in areas adjacent to the Separation Wall and under threat of land grab.

Additionally, the project promotes employment opportunities in the fields of renewable energy and agriculture. While supporting local efforts to enhance environmental and living conditions through effective resource management, it further contributes to achieving several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to clean energy, water access, and climate action.
