APLA receives the Public Park construction project in Qalandiya as part of its interventions in Area "C"

In the context of technical follow-up to the Sub-grant Initiative projects, the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) completed technical procedures to receive the Public Park construction project in Qalandiya. In the presence of the village council representatives, the event was marked during a field visit by the APLA team to the project site. The project is part of community-driven interventions implemented by APLA with support from the European Union and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). It aims at developing public facilities that meet community needs and enhance service delivery in Area C.

To develop an open public space that is functionally integrated with the on-site football stadium, the project is designed as an inclusive area with multi-use community and recreational facilities to serve various community groups. This includes creating green spaces, safe play areas for children, facilities for family gatherings, and social spaces to site’s inclusivity and capability of meeting the diverse public needs.

The project aligns with APLA’s efforts and approach to empower and improve local government units’ intervention in developing community infrastructure. Taking into account the specificity of targeted areas and urban and development challenges they face, APLA supports village councils in implementing integrated development projects, enhancing access to public services, and creating an appropriate environment for social and community activities.
