APLA Organizes Field Tour to Receive and Follow up on the Implementation of Development Projects in Anza, Deir Abu Da’if and Tayasir

The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) carried out field visits to development projects in the villages of Anza, Deir Abu Da’if and Tayasir to follow up on the progress of project implementation and receive projected implemented by local government units (LGUs) in these communities. These projects were implemented in Phase 1 the Sub-grants Initiative for the so-called Area C, launched by APLA and jointly funded by the European Union and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The initiative aims to strengthen community resilience and enhance infrastructure and basic services.

The Anza Village Council briefed APLA about the progress made in the Ein Anza Site Rehabilitation and Landscaping project. To transform the entrance to the village into a beautiful destination, the project will restore the old water spring, revive local heritage. It will contribute to improving the overall environment, promoting awareness of cultural heritage, strengthening social cohesion, and offering a space for the local community.

APLA also visited Abu Da’if Public Park Rehabilitation project. By this project, in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture, Deir Abu Da’if Village Council seeks to create a safe space for the local community, including rehabilitation and development of green spaces, family seating areas, and children’s play areas. It will enhance services provided by the village council to the village community. In partnership with the private sector, the project will also promote local economic development and provides a sustainable income to the village council.

Tayasir Village Council received APLA and provide an overview of progress in the Construction of a 50 KW Solar Power Station project, which aims to step up the electricity grid infrastructure, provide a sustainable clean energy source, and reduce village council’s spending by energy self-production. It will provide an economic stimulus by minimizing dependence on external energy sources. This initiative is a component of the village council’s strategy to achieve environmental and economic sustainability.

These projects are part of a broader strategy to promote sustainable development in the so-called Area C, threatened by land confiscation and facing development constraints. APLA looks forward to supporting LGUs to provide the best services to communities, achieve inclusive socioeconomic development, and strengthen Palestinian citizens’ resilience and presence on the ground.
