APLA holds a workshop on Promoting AI Role in Municipal Service Improvement

In the context of efforts to promote the role of local government units (LGUs) in adopting breakthrough technological advancements, the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) organized a workshop on The Impact of Artificial Intelligence Tools in LGU Operations. Held on Zoom with 31 LGUs, the workshop aimed at enabling LGUs to use AI tools to promote efficiency, enhance productivity, and develop public service delivery.

Samer Beitawi, a multimedia specialist, made a detailed presentation on the rapid transformation and direct impact of AI techniques on different spheres of work, particularly in relation to LGUs. The review explained how AI tools could be used to develop creative content, incorporate machine translation, and produce realistic images and videos. It also involved practical examples of AI applications, which LGUs could use to improve public service provision, including for more effective and efficient project management, emergency response enhancement, urban planning promotion, and digital service provision.

This activity is part of partnership with the GIZ Local Governance Reform Programme as well as APLA commitment to support digital transformation and develop LGU technical capacity to use cutting-edge digital technology. It seeks to create an innovative working environment that supports digital transformation and strengthens LGU capacities in the face of current and future challenges.
