The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities "APLA", funded by the EU and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, launched a call to village councils in the West Bank to submit proposals for implementing development projects in the so-called Area C. This comes as part of the activities of APLA's Multi-Annual Action Plan "MAAP" with the aim of enhancing cooperation among local authorities with regards to service provision and enhancing the contributions to regional complementarity, through sub-grants supporting socio-economic development initiatives implemented by local authorities.
APLA clarified that the sub-grants aim to support development initiatives organized by the village councils aiming to develop local communities economically and socially, including project that provide job opportunities or constitute an income source for households in the communities located in the so-called Area C. This includes development projects, projects for supporting and developing social services, environmental projects, community development projects; especially youth-led initiatives, cultural projects and projects for preserving cultural heritage. In addition, projects for the development of rural and agricultural areas, women empowerment projects, entrepreneurship and creating job opportunities, projects on achieving justice and human rights, and capacity building projects. The winning projects will be selected and funded based on a list of clear criteria and through a specialized evaluation committee.
