The programme aims to empower local governments and their representative bodies to create a more sustainable future for their communities.

APLA takes part in implementing activities that contribute to creating an enabling environment for village councils. In addition to defending the role played by village councils in the local government sector, APLA makes sure that government bodies understand the problems encountered by LGUs as well as recognize their role.

2023 activities

• Participated in preparing development and spatial plans for LGUs in the Western Ramallah cluster (six village councils and one municipality).
• Targeting village councils, organized an introductory and training workshop on maximising and diversifying village council revenues.
• Developed a research paper on maximising revenues of LGUs, particularly village councils.
• Developed a research paper on the establishment of joint service committees, especially zoning and building committees jointly with village councils.
• Compiled the APLA Advocacy Strategy.
