The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) held the first day of a training workshop entitled “Artificial Intelligence in the Work of Local Development Units: From Understanding to Application”, with the participation of representatives from 40 LGUs, With a total of 65 participants from the Engineering and Planning Hub. The workshop aims to enhance participants’ understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in municipal work and support their effective use to improve institutional performance and the services provided to citizens.
The workshop was delivered by Dr. Majed Ayyad, an AI trainer, who addressed a range of topics related to artificial intelligence during the first day. These included an introduction to key AI concepts and an understanding of how AI works, with a particular focus on prompt engineering and techniques for refining prompts to obtain more accurate and effective outputs. Participants also explored techniques for defining roles and context, as well as using examples to improve AI-generated results. The session included practical applications and exercises on using AI in the workplace.
The workshop is being held over two days, with the second day scheduled for next week. The second session will continue the practical training on using AI tools in the workplace, strengthening participants’ ability to apply these tools to their daily tasks and responsibilities.
The workshop is part of APLA’s efforts to promote knowledge and experience sharing among LGUs and support the adoption of digital tools and emerging technologies to strengthen institutional performance and enhance the capacities of personnel working in the local government sector. These efforts aim to keep pace with technological developments and contribute to improving local services.
The workshop is organized under APLAs Technical Exchange Hubs, implemented as part of the Local Governance Reform Programme (LGRP - III), funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and supported by (GIZ).
