APLA Concludes “SDGs Stories” Program at Bassam Al-Shakaa School in Nablus

The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) concluded the “SDGs Stories” Program through a closing ceremony held at Bassam Al-Shakaa Basic Boys School in Nablus, with the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Education, Nablus Municipality, APLA, and several local community institutions.
The ceremony featured a documentary video highlighting the journey of implementing the students’ projects, from the initial ideas to their completion, as well as the lessons learned throughout the process. It also included the opening of a student project exhibition showcasing recycling initiatives and innovative educational tools developed from local environmental resources, in addition to a mural reflecting the stories and awareness messages of sustainable development. Participants were also taken on a tour of the school library, which was furnished with the support of APLA.
These activities fall within APLA’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable development concepts among students through practical and interactive approaches by providing a supportive and creativity-driven educational environment. The initiative also aims to strengthen cooperation between schools and LGUs, contribute to developing students’ teamwork skills, and reinforce the values of belonging and national identity.
The activities were funded by ESCWA, and the project “Mobilizing the Capacities of Palestinian LGUs around Knowledge Exchange and Adaptation to the SDGs Goals,” funded by GIZ.
