As part of the Green Screen Initiative, the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) delivered a focused training to 14 students and recent graduates from journalism and media faculties. The training aimed at enabling young people to produce professional environmental news content that supports approaches to green and sustainable development.
Delivered by Jamil Dhababat, founder of the Green Screen Initiative, and Shadi Jarar’ah, journalist and documentary filmmaker, the training focused on the practical aspects of producing impactful environmental content using visual media and accurate data, while adhering to journalistic ethics. Participants explored both local and global environmental issues, such as climate change, pollution, and natural resource management. They discussed the role of environmental journalism in raising awareness, shaping public policy, and encouraging community engagement.
This training is part of the Green Screen Initiative, which was awarded a grant by APLA under the Local Authorities Network for Sustainable Development (LAND) project, funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS). The project is implemented in partnership with the Union of Municipalities of Umbria, Union of Municipalities of Trasimeno, and FELCOS Umbria. Through these initiatives, APLA continues to support the youth and promote sustainable green practices.
