President Abbas receives APLA Executive Board

The President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas, received today, Thursday at noon, the Executive Board of the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) at the Presidential Compound in the city of Ramallah. The delegation was headed by APLA President Abdul Karim al-Zubeidi.

The delegation briefed His Excellency on the role played by APLA in supporting and coordinating among Palestinian local government units (LGUs) to the benefit of Palestinian citizens.

The delegation praised the President’s continuous support for Palestinian LGUs and his commitment to reinforcing democratic life within communities by holding regular local elections.

President Abbas commended the significant role played by LGUs, including municipalities and village councils, in delivering services to citizens despite the difficulties they face. These include challenges posed by Israeli practices, as witnessed in cities such as Jenin, Tulkarem, Tubas, and other Palestinian cities across the West Bank.

His Excellency affirmed his full support for the work of APLA and its important role in supporting municipalities and village councils, contributing to the delivery of better services to citizens within the available means.

His Excellency stated that LGU elections served as a distinguished model for consolidating a democratic approach within Palestinian society – an achievement in which we all take pride.
