In the context of the implementation of the Local Authorities Network for Sustainable Development (LAND) project, the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA), in collaboration with the technical team of Ni’lin Municipality, received the completed rehabilitation works for the Ni’lin Municipal Park. Funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and Union of Municipalities of Trasimeno, the project was implemented by APLA in partnership with FELCOS Umbria.
The project aims to transform the municipal park into a model environmental and community space, providing a safe and healthy environment that reflects the principles of sustainability and community well-being. As part of the project works, solar panels were installed to generate clean energy. These panels were designed as an overhead canopy that provides shaded and safe seating areas for visitors, improving the quality of public spaces and contributing to the mental well-being of parkgoers.
The project also included the expansion and rehabilitation of the children’s play area, creating a comprehensive recreational space that meets the needs of various age groups. Additionally, waste-sorting bins were provided to promote environmentally sound practices and encourage a culture of recycling within the local community. Trees were also planted to improve green cover and enhance the overall visual appeal of the area.
This project reflects the shared commitment of APLA and Ni’lin Municipality to advancing environmental and social sustainability through practical initiatives that address local residents’ priorities and needs. It supports quality of life by upgrading public facilities in line with modern environmental standards and strengthens the resilience of Palestinian communities in the face of growing development challenges.
