The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) condemns the Israeli occupying forces, who opened fire on Nidhal Ubeidi, Mayor of Jenin, Khader Turkman, member of the Jenin Municipal Council, and Bashir Matahin, Public Relations Manager at Jenin Municipality. Performing a humanitarian duty, all three were delivering bread and water to homes, which had been under siege for three days. Of note, prior coordination with the District Coordination and Liaison Office had been made to allow municipal staff to work in the field and meet citizens’ needs.

This attack constitutes a gross violation of all humanitarian and international norms. It reflects IOF persistent attempts to impede municipal work and prevent the provision of basic services to citizens.
