The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) strongly deplores the demolition of the premises of the Furush Beit Dajan Village Council by the Israeli occupying forces (IOF). The building covered a surface area of 300 square metres. Marking a grave escalation, this criminal act is part of a series of violations designed to cripple the operations of, and keep citizens apart from, their legitimate Palestinian institutions.
The demolition is nothing but a new episode in a long series of IOF crimes intended to displace Palestinians and destroy Palestinian cities, towns, and villages together with their infrastructure. This constitutes a flagrant violation of the International Law and International Humanitarian Law. The international community is called upon to take a firm stand to put an end to these recurrent abuses.
APLA stresses its solidarity with the residents of Furush Beit Dajan and support for the village council in the unrelenting efforts it makes to serve the local community and promote citizens’ resilience on their land. APLA further calls on all international and human rights organisations to provide needed support to reconstruct the building and ensure necessary protection for citizens.
