The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) condemns in the strongest terms the heinous attack of throwing a Molotov cocktail on the house of Mr. Anton Salman, Bethlehem Mayor.

In gross violation of the law, this criminal act risks aggravating community chaos and undermines community safety, particularly at this critical stage which requires that all of us – individuals, groups and institutions – bear our responsibilities, give precedence to the supreme national interest over any narrow interests, and uphold the rule of law.

APLA demands that all relevant authorities prosecute the outlaws, follow up on the consequences of attacks, and protect local government units (LGUs). APLA confirms its support to all Palestinian LGU heads, members, and executive staff. In addition to enforcing the law, LGUs need to play their roles at this critical stage and shoulder relevant national responsibilities, particularly preserving community safety and protecting the national project.
