The Deputy President of the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities "APLA", Mayor of Bethlehem, Hanna Hanania received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, Goshin Flasbarth, and the accompanying delegation in the city of Bethlehem, including Ana Goum, Country Director of the German Center for Development Cooperation, and the Head of Cooperation at the German Representative Office in Ramallah, Peter Wolfro and his deputy, Anne Hitsgard, the Director of KFW, David Conz, and his deputy for Ramallah and Al-Bireh Branch, Waddah Hamdallah, and the LGRP Director, Evon Muller.

In the beginning of the meeting, Hanania welcomed the guests to the City of Christs' Cradle, giving a presentation on the reality of Palestinian cities and its political situation, including the practices of the occupation against the Palestinian people, such as continuing the confiscation of lands, building illegal settlements at odds with the international law. Additionally, building the separation wall, which constitutes a major obstacle against development and openness, which helps expands the settlements on 1967 lands, causing a deterioration in the opportunities for development, separating Palestinian cities from one another and from Jerusalem, while affecting many other aspects of life, such as water, agriculture and freedom of movement. Hanania demanded the international community to adhere to its responsibilities towards the rights of the Palestinian people.
