The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities "APLA" condemns the shooting against the vehicle of the mayor of Jenin, Nidal Obeidi, by a group of outlaws, in front of his house and the shooting at the public services' center affiliated with the Municipality of Jenin.

The staff and teams of Jenin Municipality, headed by Mayor Nidal Obeidi, continued working around the clock during the latest Israeli aggression against Jenin city and its refugee camp. Moreover, the Municipality adhered to its commitment along with all its staff and teams to exert all possible efforts to support the citizens. The Municipality is still moving forward with its work in order to organize the city, its markets and eliminate all violations, and advance the city to provide the best services to the citizens.

This cowardly action targeting Nidal Obeidi and Jenin Municipality, because of playing its role as an institution that serves its citizens and protect their rights, requires serious measures from the security forces in order to combat such practices, which were repeated in several areas targeting the Mayors, members and staff or local authorities.

APLA urges the security forces to speed up the process of finding the perpetrators and presenting them to trial. Furthermore, APLA emphasizes its support and conformity with the Municipality's stance and measures aiming to enhance the quality of services and guarantee a dignified life to its citizens. In addition, APLA stands by all Mayors and members of Palestinian local authorities and their staff to enforce the law and play its role as institutions providing services.
