Under the auspices and participation of the Minister of Local Governance, Eng. Majdi Al-Saleh, the President of the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities "APLA", Abdelkarim Al-Zubeidi, and the President of the National Union of Local Governments Staff, Waleed Al-Khatib, signed a joint memorandum of understanding "MoU" related to the demands of local authorities' employees.

The agreement entails amendments and special raises for the different groups of workers and employees of local authorities with the aim of enhancing their occupational status.

In return, Al-Saleh emphasized the full interest of the Ministry in local authorities and its continuous endeavor to empower them and enhance their capacities to meet their duties towards citizens, in addition to the Ministries keenness on the employees and workers acquiring their full rights, in a way that guarantees decent life.

Al-Saleh pointed out the importance of all stakeholders maintaining the highest level of national responsibility, achievements and accomplishments the local authorities realized and accumulated as well as conserving them.

Meanwhile, Al-Zubeidi expressed his appreciation of the spirit of dialogue and the high sense of responsibility that dominated these sessions among all stakeholders, as the agreement took into consideration the workers' demands on one hand and the conditions of local authorities, on another hand.

Moreover, Al-Khatib expressed the Unions’ comfort and happiness with what was agreed upon which in principle realizes the interests of workers and employees.
