President of the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities "APLA", Abdelkarim Al-Zubeidi, introduced a delegation from the National Association of Portuguese Municipalities "ANMP" to the reality of Palestinian local authorities, the work of APLA and its vision that aims to enhance the roles of local authorities in Palestine.

The visit came with the participation of the Representative of Portugal to Palestine, Frederico Nascimento, and the Palestinian Ambassador to Portugal, Nabil Abu Zneid, as well as a number of Portuguese Mayors, the president of APLA's International Relations Committee, the Mayor of Tubas, Hussam Daraghmeh, and the Head of the Technical and Legal Support Unit at APLA, Eng. Abdel Mo'men Afaneh.

Al-Zubeidi clarified the importance of enhancing the relations between the Palestinian local authorities and their counterparts around the world, including the Portuguese municipalities, inviting the Portuguese municipalities to visit Palestine and get to know the reality of municipalities here better, and to enhance the exchange of experiences and expertise, learn from the Portuguese experience in addressing priority problems and issues, and to establish for a joint cooperation between the two sides.

In return, the Representative of Portugal to Palestine emphasized the importance of conducting such visits to learn about the Palestinian reality and the Palestinian local authorities closely. This will provide more opportunities for establishing and forming relations between the local authorities and communities of both sides.
