The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities "APLA", represented by its Executive Director, Eng. Abdallah Anati, signed a Memorandum of Understanding "MoU" with Dooz Web News, represented by its General Director, Abdelrahman Othman. The MoU aims to establish a strategic partnership, through which the local media coverage of the work of local authorities and raising awareness towards issues related to public interest. The signing took place at APLA's headquarters in Ramallah, attended by the Head of APLA's Technical and Legal Support Unit, Eng. Abdel Mo'men Afaneh, Dooz Chief Editor, Jala' Abu Arab, and APLA's Communication and Advocacy Officer, Nadine Nakhleh.
As per this MoU, a joint taskforce will be formed to expand the media coverage to include the largest number possible of local authorities in Palestine, producing awareness media materials on SDGs and the role of local authorities in achieving them. An addition both parties seek joint funding from donor organizations and different partners with the aim of launching awareness campaigns related to the local governance sector in Palestine.
APLA's Executive Director, Eng. Anati clarified that APLA seeks through institutionalizing the partnership with Dooz to allocate larger space for Palestinian local authorities and the local governance sector through local media. Furthermore, this partnership will pave the way for a larger number of local authorities all around the country to open channels of communication with Dooz and utilize it to improve their media appearance and presence.
Meanwhile, Dooz General Director, Mr. Othman, welcomed this partnership emphasizing the organization's commitment to provide all their capacities to serve the citizens first, as well as the Palestinian local authorities and the local governance sector through the neutral and necessary media coverage, including raising awareness on issues affecting the citizens' lives and the work of local authorities continuously.
