APLA elected as a President of the Cities Diplomacy Committee of UCLG-MEWA

The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) concluded its participation in the conference of United Cities and Local Governments – Middle East and West Asia Section (UCLG-MEWA) 2022. The conference was convened in Konya-Turkey to conduct presidential elections and elections of the organizations' governing committees for the period 2022-2025, and was attended by APLA's President, Eng. Musa Hadid; and Executive Director, Eng. Abdallah Anati.

 

APLA participated in the meetings of the organization's general assembly and the executive bureau. During the conference, APLA was elected as a member of UCLG-MEWA's Executive Bureau, a member of the Executive Bureau of the UCLG Council, the President of Cities' Diplomacy Committee of UCLG-MEWA, the co-president of the Environment and Gender Equality Committees. Moreover, Mayor of Hebron, Taysir Abu Sneineh, was elected as the President of UCLG-MEWA in addition to 16 Palestinian local authorities elected as members of the organization's council.

 

On the side of the conference, APLA's Executive Director, Eng. Abdallah Anati participated in the training on localizing SDGs in the frame of decentralized cooperation, organized by the learning team at UCLG, presenting the Palestinian experience in funding projects through decentralized cooperation programs. He also mentioned that APLA is making double efforts in order to enhance decentralized cooperation among Palestinian local authorities and with their international counterparts, through providing support and aid in logistical, legal and technical aspects, and by opening the horizons of local authorities to obtain funding of joint projects and participate in international events, conferences, and forums.
