Minister of Local Government, Eng. Majdi Al-Saleh, following the termination of the electoral cycle of local authorities, emphasized the continuity of all jurisdictions and duties delegated to them as per the provisions of the Local Authorities' Law and the regulations issued in accordance with it, as well as any legislations regulating the works of local authorities.

This took place during his meeting with the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA), which a group of issues were discussed of concern to the local governance sector and the challenges facing local authorities, as well as the requirements of empowering them to play their roles in serving citizens.

Al-Saleh confirmed adhering to the budgets approved for local authorities as a legal basis for implementing their jurisdictions and duties, and he invited local authorities to refrain from anything that might impose a reality that hinders or creates challenges for future councils in implementing their programs.

In return, APLA's President, Eng. Musa Hadid thanked the Ministry represented by the Minister, the Deputy Minister and its cadre for the positive role the Ministry plays and its understanding of the difficult circumstances, which impose many challenges before local authorities. He demanded the government to provide financial and in-kind support to local authorities in order to maintain its continuity and ability to provide services and implement projects for the citizens.
