APLA Condemns the Attack on Jenin's Mayor

Statement of Condemnation and Disapproval

In a strange and unusual act about our peoples' traditions and behavior, a group of people assaulted Dr. Mohammad Abu Ghali, the Mayor of Jenin Municipality during performing the duties he was elected to carry out and supervising the implementation of city rules and regulations.

The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) condemned and disapprove this cowardly assault on Dr. Abu Ghali, and calls on our security services to pursue the aggressors, bring them to justice, and take the needed legal action against them to be a deterrent to any behavior that could affect the law prestige, the municipal work regulations and its role in building institutions that serve citizens and protect their rights, and ensures that the law applies to everyone.

APLA with all its components stands united in the face of all attempts that undermines the legal status granted to councils and local authorities. Affirming its inclusive support to Dr. Abu Ghali, the elected municipal council Members, and Jenin municipal staff, encouraging all elected local councils for executing an outstanding national and social duty.

Hand in hand to build national institutions capable of protecting our national efforts on the road of establishing our independent Palestinian state on our national territory and Jerusalem our eternal capital.
