APLA: Amending Mayors and Councilors Bylaws Embodies the Spirit of the Partnership between APLA and the Ministry of Local Government

The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) said that the Palestinian Cabinet approval on amending the Mayors and Councilors Bylaws comes as result of a joint effort between APLA and the Ministry of Local Government under the generous patronage of the Prime Minister Rami Al-Hamdallah.

APLA declared that it has convened many meetings between its representatives and the Ministry of Local Government in the past few months, in which the entire Bylaws’ articles were thoroughly reviewed to reach a mutual stand.   

APLA noted that its Executive and Administrative Committees held several meetings that led to the declaration of a mutual understanding and agreement on an amended version of the Bylaws, which was discussed and agreed upon with the Ministry of Local Government.

APLA appreciated his Excellency the Minister of Local Government Dr. Husain Al Araj and the Ministry staff efforts in cooperation and understanding APLA's and the Palestinian Municipalities position. Stating that the partnership embodied spirit during the Bylaws discussion established a new phase of strengthening the partnership between the two, confirming its eagerness to conduct further mutual dialogues regarding many issues and matters concerning the Palestinian Local Government Units.

APLA also extended its gratitude to the Prime Minister Dr. Rami Al-Hamdallah, for sponsoring this dialogue and his continuous support of the efforts done in this regards.  APLA commended the LGUs position and their ongoing cooperation with APLA as the sole representative of all LGUs in Palestine. APLA emphasized continuing with its efforts to support LGUs, develop the Local Government Sector reality in Palestine, in partnership with all concerned parties.
