The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) President Eng. Mousa Hadid and Executive Director Eng. Abdallah Anati, in the presence of the Palestinian Ambassador in Greece Marwan Tobasi participated in the General Assembly meeting of the Union of Municipalities in Greece conducted in Ioannina City.

During his speech before the General Assembly of the Greek municipalities, Eng. Hadid talked about the Palestinian Municipalities national role and its continuity in providing services despite all political obstacles, pointing out that there are many common challenges facing both the Palestinian and Greek municipalities. He also invited the Greek municipalities to visit Palestine in order to discover its situations and exchange expertise among the two parties.

The two associations agreed on institutionalizing their relationship to promote municipalities’ partnership between the two parties, and benefit from each others' experiences.

The General Assembly of Greek municipalities issued a statement confirming the  Union of Municipalities in Greece solidarity with the Palestinian people and calling for recognizing the State of Palestine, stating the importance of establishing a network titled  'Greek-Palestinian Municipalities Solidarity Network' to open the doors for direct relationships between the two Associations.
