APLA Holds Training on International Partnerships Strategies

APLA held a training course for the PR Hub members on international partnership strategies, two days after holding the workshop on partnership building and twinning between LGUs and their international counterparts. 40 representatives from the public relations and media departments of the LGUs participated in the training.

APLA’s Training Activities Coordinator Shorouq Rabie, inaugurated the workshop by welcoming the participants and reviewing the most important themes that will be worked on in the coming months through the public relations hub, explaining that these themes were chosen by the hub members based on the priorities identified during their first meeting.

Over the course of the two-day training, the consultant Alaa Abu Ali gave an explanation about the establishment of partnerships between LGUs and their international counterparts, starting with the importance of developing clear strategies for partnerships, the mechanisms for developing these strategies, through the characteristics of partnerships. This was in addition to the roles and functions within these partnerships, the stages of preparation and contracts, preparation of work programs, implementation and control, and ending with techniques communication, financing issues and legal aspects.

It is worth noting that this workshop comes within the project of hubs for exchanging experiences between LGUs, which is implemented in partnership between APLA and the Local Governance Reform Program at the GIZ. Note that it includes five hubs: the public relations hub, the engineering and planning hub, the financial management hub, the village councils’ hub, and the innovation hub.
