The chairman of the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA), Eng. Mousa Hadid, held a meeting with the Minister of Local Governance, Eng. Majdi Al-Saleh, regarding the amendment of the Law on the Election of Local Authority Councils. The meeting was attended by the members of the policies committee at APLA, Mayor of Qalqilia Dr. Hisham Al-Masri, representative of Dura Municipality Dr, Nu’man Amro, Mayor of Al-Ebeidiya Naji Radaydeh, APLA Executive Manager Eng. Abdullah Anati, Deputy Minister of Local Governance Ahmad Ghuneim, Assistant Deputy Minister of Directorate Affairs Abdul Karim Sider and the ministry staff.
Both sides discussed a draft law amending the Law on the Election of Local Authority Councils No. (10) of 2005 and its amendments. The initial comments submitted by APLA on the draft law and some proposals regarding it were discussed. Both sides agreed to continue holding joint meetings between the ministry and APLA to discuss all comments and proposals in order to reach consensus on a final draft.
