APLA launches 2nd phase of the Sub-grant Initiative to fund development projects in the so-called Area “C”

Funding by the European Union and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) called village councils across the West Bank to submit proposals for project implementation throughout the so-called Area “C”. As part of the APLA Multiannual Action Plan, this activity aims at promoting cooperation in service delivery among local government units (LGUs) and enhance regional integration. To this end, sub-grants support socioeconomic development initiatives carried out by LGUs.

APLA explained that sub-grants seek to support development initiatives launched by village councils to develop relevant communities in economic and social areas. Providing employment opportunities or generating income for households in Area C communities, these projects include economic development, social service support and enhancement, environment, community development, youth initiatives, culture and preservation of cultural heritage, rural and agricultural area development, women’s empowerment, entrepreneurship, job creation, justice and human rights, and capacity building. Based on clear criteria, winning projects will be selected by an evaluation committee.
