APLA Executive Director, Eng. Abdallah Anati, participated in the International Regional Conference of the International City/County Management Association (ICMA), which was held virtually via Zoom.

Eng. Anati reviewed the way in which LGUs have developed communication strategies with the public since the emergence of the pandemic until today. He explained the repercussions of Corona on the needs of citizens on the one hand, and the response of LGUs to these needs in return, saying, “Corona gave an indication about the readiness of local governments more than any other levels of government in dealing with crises and closely following the needs of citizens.

APLA Executive Director indicated that despite the specificity of the Palestinian case, LGUs have provided exceptional models in maintaining the sustainability of communication with citizens during the crisis. Through official channels, social media platforms, forming volunteer teams and emergency committees, and enhancing communication through services provided to citizens in many areas such as education, health, child care, women and the elderly, in addition to communication in the so-Called areas “C” where LGUs are the only government level in areas outside the control.
