APLA condemns assault on Khallet al-Maiyya Municipality

The Association of Palestinian Local Authorities (APLA) deplores the outlaws who physically assaulted Majdi al-Adrah, Mayor of the Khallet al-Maiyya Municipality, and attacked the municipal building. Earlier, these assailants attacked the public electricity grid and municipal executive staff. The assault was committed in spite of the fact that the municipality played its role in serving citizens.

APLA demands that security agencies impose the most severe of penalties against the perpetrators to deter violation of the rule of law and impingement on municipal functions. As some outlaws attempt to breach laws, regulations and customs, APLA further warns against continued encroachments on LGUs, which merely perform their assigned roles. APLA emphasises that ongoing assaults augur serious consequences on community safety, calling for the protection of LGUs, including heads, members and executive staff, against any potential impingements.
